PD | Veneto | Assembly | Direction | Verona | July 8, 2022
Yesterday afternoon, July 8, the assembly and management of the Veneto Democratic Party met in Verona. Two opened by the report of the PD regional secretary Andrea Martella, who spoke of the recent electoral successes and also health, environment and work meetings.
“In Veneto the rebirth of the PD started from the cities – said Martella – The quiet of Sergio Giordani in Padua and Damiano Tommasi in Verona have led to successes of absolute importance, strength on the one hand the ability to feed new hopes and, from other, on the demonstration of having conducted a good government of the city. These affirmations are flanked by the victories of other important centers such as Mira, Mirano, Abano and Thiene. Now we will have to continue activating ourselves in inland areas, in the suburbs, in the countryside and in the mountainous areas. Here, the greatest needs are linked to the gradual loss of services and opportunities, from school to health care. We must place ourselves, everywhere and in every situation, as social interlocutors, as interpreters of a wide range of needs “.
On the regional, Martella is convinced that “many problems are coming to a head”, pointing out: “the shortage of hospital staff and general practitioners and the impressive numbers of waiting lists. The flight of medical personnel and tell of an exhausted regional health system that cannot be recovered with unclear proposals, such as that of recalling suspended no-vax health personnel to service, but with a profound reform of the social health system “.
The drought and the collapse on the Marmolada were topics mentioned by the regional secretary of the PD in a broad speech on the environment. “The Marmolada tragedy is the symbol of a drama that ungoverned climate change is bringing to many parts of the world – said Martella – As President Mattarella said, it is a collective tragedy that calls for the taking of responsibility from part of all. For this reason, I believe that surreptitious denial culture that aims to minimize the issue even in the face of evidence must be firmly rejected and condemned. And on the drought we record the empty interventions of the Region on the front of the reservoirs, to create water supplies. It is not enough to wear the protection jacket when civilian drama occurs: planning is needed and it is needed well before emergencies happen and to prevent them. It will be our commitment to participate in the group proposals for scientific support to a group of experts to program an intervention plan for emergencies ».
And finally, a passage on work, another issue that must be central to the PD. “To be attractive, to make Veneto a land of job opportunities for young people and businesses, we need policies aimed at innovation and training – concluded Martella – We need to insert much more efficient mechanisms for crossing supply and demand, to help with greater strength companies on the road to innovation and transitions, to strengthen training, for example with the proposal we have put forward on active guidance and apprenticeships and to guarantee effective control systems for safety in the workplace. The PD intends to be the party of those who work and of those who create work ”.
