Complaints against Lisbon priest suspected of sending sexual SMS are already in court
Already in the Public Ministry (MP) there are complaints that led the Patriarchate of Lisbon to withdraw, preventively, from all activities such as pastorals or priest suspected of having exchanged sex car messages with young people from a Lisbon college.
In a statement published by Colégio S. Tomás, where Father Duarte Andrade e Sousa was chaplain, he states that, “at this moment, both the Diocesan Commission for the Protection of Minors and the judicial authorities are following the process”, expressing “full disposition to collaborate in whatever is necessary”.
The document signed by Isabel Almeida e Brito and Filipa Villas-Boas states that at the base of these measures is “an exchange of messages containing any inappropriate language” in a Whatsapp group with 12th grade students, “there is currently no news of another type”. of behavior”. The first complaint was made by the mother of a student about two months ago and the content of the conversations existing in the group – where pornographic ones are highlighted – will have been delivered to the patriarchy and to the MP.
The priest was also removed from the parish of Alto Lumia and, assumed to be authorities, assumed the use of “improper language”, logically revealed as “improper language”, obviously revealed not to be well. “Father Duarte is very sorry for what he has done and has already shown himself willing to accept the punishment that the diocese deems,” a priest friend of the priest told JN.
This is another case to reach the MP, after the 17 complaints in the Church sent by the Independent Commission for the Study of Sexual Abuses Against Catholic Children. According to Jornal Expresso, three other complaints were made to the MP directly by the dioceses where abuses will occur, without going through the diocesan commissions or the national commission.
Pedro Strecht stated that the organization has already received 365 reports, of which 338 have been validated. Strecht Commission recalled that the reality of sexual abuse by members of the clergy will be greater. “The total number of victims is only disclosed because it needs to be done in a scientific way”, he said.
The famous “effect” that exists in all studies of sexual abuse, can also happen in a perfect case of ice that can be seen in these cases. According to the number of complaints already made, the numbers could come to around about 500 victims.
