Chaos for students! New high school will not be ready for the start of school
We are currently in the middle of the school holidays. However, many – especially in school work – naturally already have the new school year in mind. In the west of Cologne, this is primarily associated with concerns. Actually, a new high school was supposed to be opened on Aachener Strasse on August 1st. Because nothing will come of it, chaotic conditions are now threatening.
In many places we are currently struggling with the consequences of the corona pandemic and the war of aggression in Ukraine. Last but not least, this also affects the construction industry and the progress of many projects. The associated delays also affect the conversion of the former Unitymedia building on Aachener Straße into a high school.

High school on Aachener Strasse will not be ready when school starts

Aachener Straße high school students find accommodation in Lövenich
No, you don’t just have to stay at home until then. Instead, you must first go to another high school. A new high school will also be opened in the Lövenich district. On Zuzestraße it seems that everything can start according to plan when school starts. The four fifth graders will be accommodated there for the time being – in addition to the students who are starting school on Zuzestraße anyway. Every now and then an extraordinary situation awaits.
Few would dispute that for the new fifth-graders from Aachener Strasse this is anything but an ideal solution to start life at a secondary school. They wish that they can move into their real new (school) home at least in the autumn.
