Bolzano – HCB Südtirol Alperia signed Mike Dalhuisen from champion EC Red Bull Salzburg. The Dutchman appeared on the ice in 18 games for the Red Bulls. The defender recorded seven points (3G/4A).
Mike Dalhuisen was born in Holland and moved to Canada with his family at the age of 11, where he took up ice hockey. First in the youth teams, then at Quinnipiac University before signing his first professional contract in the American Hockey League with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in 2013. In the two additional seasons he played in the American second division as well as in the ECHL before returning to Europe in 2015.
His first stop was in Denmark with Esbjerg Energy, where he won the championship and was one of the main actors. He then joined the VHL, where he spent two seasons with Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk in Kazakhstan (121 games – 57 points). In 2018 he moved to the DEL in Bad Nauheim. The following year his adventure in Slovakia began: in three seasons in the jersey of HK Dukla Michalovce and HK Poprad he made a total of 147 appearances and scored 79 points. He also started the 2021/22 season in Poprad and ended it in the win2day ICE Hockey League near Salzburg, where he was under contract from February 15 and was crowned champion.
“I informed myself in detail about the town of Talfert, the area and the fans and after a clarifying discussion with coach Hanlon I decided on Bozen,” explains Dalhuisen. “My expectations have been met every year: I want to win. In the last nine seasons I’ve played in seven finals and won two championships. So I expect to be part of a strong team that works hard and wants to go all the way. The championship is top-level, I had an unforgettable experience with Salzburg last season and it was a wonderful feeling to lift the trophy. But now I’m in Bolzano, and the motto here is always to win. I will leave a positive impression and form a unit with the team, the fans and everything that goes with the foxes’ environment.”
