Nicolas Florian : “La priorité est de tout mettre en œuvre pour sauver le club des Girondins de Bordeaux”
Nicholas Florianmunicipal councilor and former mayor of Bordeaux, spoke about the current situation of the Girondins de Bordeaux, while making proposals to help.
“It’s a commonplace, but it’s a shock since the decision that fell. I express all my solidarity with the club, the club staff, and also all those who have an indirect job, have an activity thanks to the matches. It is a surprising decision. The plan has been blessed by the commercial court, which is committed to the viability, the legitimacy of what is proposed. All this is without transparency. It’s quite a dramatic step, with a revealed death certificate released today. We are in great danger. Me, I think that all is not lost. In particular, among the proposals that I am submitting, I would maintain that there be political mobilization in the institutional sense of the term, namely that it be proposed to the 18 Girondin parliamentarians, whatever their label, to address the Minister for sports and why not to the Prime Minister, in order to draw attention to the consequences that the disappearance of the Girondins de Bordeaux club would have. I read the minister’s response, which surprises me a little. Admittedly, today, it is not within the direct powers to intervene, but among the possible remedies, there is the CNOSF. I think that we can use a lever with the state to alert people to the consequences that the disappearance of the Girondins de Bordeaux club would have. Sporting, economic and social consequences. From there to intervene at the CNOSF, why not, an approach undertaken by all parliamentarians and major executives, in order to alert them there too. On a calendar story, the clock is ticking, but nothing is lost. This is why I repeat that this mobilization, at least of the elected politicians, would be appropriate, and that we seize very suppressed, through our parliamentarians… Moreover, we are lucky, among our parliamentarians, to have a member of the government. We also ask the deputy member of the government, for support from her colleagues. We can do that pretty quickly.”
“Second element, if the CNOSF does not offer conciliation, that the FFF ignores local, financial and popular mobilization, that should not leave them insensitive. Finally, on the financial side, what we proposed is a first step, and that was not enough in the eyes of the DNCG. There may be other proposals to make. In my opinion, the challenge is also to know how far the slider of this descent into hell must stop. Today, the decision is a demotion to National. Many National clubs have professional club status. When we look at the average budget of these clubs, we are between 2 and 3 M€. It is explained to me that the decision to demote would lead us to a bankruptcy filing. On this, I think that we must be able to develop a certain number of elements to help the club, and that with less difficulty, we can start again in National and not in National 3. What is the financial surface necessary for the Girondins Bordeaux to avoid filing for bankruptcy, and return to National, and to what extent we can participate. It is a door that should not be excluded, and admitted in advance that filing for bankruptcy is inevitable. Let’s try to take a small step ahead and have a minimum of anticipation, to help the club stay in National. We feel that there is a local union for the future of this club, it is too important for us, and I distinguish the future of the club from the situation of the stadium. The two should not be confused. The priority is to do everything possible to save the Girondins de Bordeaux club.
