Is record HEAT waiting for Slovakia? The forecasts have gone crazy, they report over 45 degrees Celsius! The meteorologist made it clear

A radical change in the weather was predicted by several portals as early as Thursday morning. According to their forecasts, the mercury in the thermometers should rise to more than 40 degrees Celsius in the second half of July! According to the models, the temperature should rise to an astronomical 42 degrees Celsius from Monday, July 18. What’s more, on Wednesday, July 20, the temperature should be up to 45 degrees Celsius.
But is such heat in Slovakia real? So far, the highest temperature measured since the beginning of measurements in Slovakia was measured on July 20, 2007, namely 40.3 degrees Celsius in Hurbanov. This value has not yet been achieved more. It would thus be a historical maximum if the mercury on thermometers in Slovakia rose to 45 degrees Celsius.
According to Pavel Matejovič, it is possible that the most intense heat wave is still ahead of us. “In July, a pressure high should form over central Europe, and at the same time, warm air should start from the southwest. According to current forecast models, the maximum air temperature could approach 40 °C in the middle. However, whether such a value will really be reached is at this moment questionable, but German meteorologists also mention it in the current forecast,” warned the meteorologist. As he added, it should be remembered that even maximum temperatures of around 38 °C are considered extreme in our region. And this despite the fact that these values are exceeded every summer. This summer is no different.
“In Somotor, in the east of Slovakia, the June national maximum was exceeded. On the last day of June, they measured 38.8 °C there. Under certain weather conditions here, the temperature can even reach the 40 °C mark. However, American prognostic models sometimes indicate for the southern Slovakia, a maximum of around 45 °C. Such high values are considerably “flying away”, in shorter-term forecasts they gradually correct and gradually decrease to 39 °C. This summer is no different either. Maximum temperatures of around 45 °C are improbable for our latitudes , therefore such a forecast should be taken with a grain of salt. On the other hand, the occurrence of another heat wave after July 15 is very likely.” concluded Matejović.
Cool end to the week
Slovakia is expecting a cooler end of the week. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) informed about it on the social network. On Wednesday (July 6), the heat moved from Central Europe to Eastern Europe, and for the most part cold weather prevailed with occasional precipitation. It was warmer only in the Pannonian Basin, where the temperature rarely rose to 30 degrees Celsius. Meteorologists recorded a tropical day at two stations in Slovakia on Wednesday. It was about Dolné Plachtince and Kamenica nad Hronom stations. As they added, there will be no tropical day on the territory of Slovakia on Thursday.
