From Tuesday: Registration for the 2nd booster vaccination for over 80-year-olds – Liechtenstein
VADUZ – Due to the high number of Covid-19 cases and the widespread use of the omicron variants, the Federal Commission for Vaccination (EKIF) and the FOPH recommend people aged 80 and over to have another booster vaccination. The Liechtenstein government has followed this vaccination recommendation and will be making registration possible from Tuesday.
Persons born in 1942 and older can register for the second booster vaccination from Tuesday, July 12th. The vaccination card should be kept ready when registering. The government recommends checking online www.vaccination.li Registering is necessary with the support of relatives. You can also register by phone via the Corona hotline +423 236 76 45. People who will not be celebrating their 80th birthday until the second half of the year can only register via the hotline, which is available from 8.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and from 1.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.
Experience has shown that the hotline WILL be very busy at the beginning, although the number of staff WILL be increased for this time, the government warns. However, it is guaranteed that appointments are available for everyone who is entitled to be vaccinated.
The dates specifically designed to refresh people born in 1942 and older are:
- Wednesday July 20th,
- Thursday July 21st
- Friday July 22nd
- Monday July 25th
- Tuesday July 26th
each afternoon.
The government asks those who want to be vaccinated to bring their passport, identity card or other official ID and vaccination card with them to their vaccination appointment.
Vaccination for younger in the fall
No further booster vaccination is currently recommended for all other people, as according to current evidence they are still protected against severe Covid 19 disease by the first booster vaccination. For this reason, people born in 1943 and younger cannot currently make an appointment either online or with hotline employees.
As the government also reports, the EKIF and the BAG also announced this week that the vaccination recommendation for autumn is to be adjusted so that the booster vaccination is also to be recommended for other second population groups. The ideal time for this depends on epidemiological factors and the availability of vaccines adapted to the omicron variants.
Further important information on vaccination can be found on the service portal of the Liechtenstein national administration www.serviceportal.li/information-on-covid-vaccination available. Information on the benefits, how it works and any side effects of the vaccination is also available there.
