Baseball, two wins and one defeat for San Marino in the triple challenge in Bologna
It ends with a defeat and two victories for San Marino Baseball, engaged this weekend in the trio of challenges against Fortitudo Bologna.
It is an excellent San Marino Baseball also in game 2 at the “Gianni Falchi” in Bologna. The Italian champions win the afternoon match with Unipolsai for 8-3, running away in the score and widening the margin in the final. Winning pitcher an excellent Luca Di Raffaele, who rose to just close after the shoulder injury that took Mazzocchi out of the way after 8 pitches. 11 valid San Marino players against 6 for Fortitudo. Special mention for Leonora, author of a home run from two points to 6th, and for Ustariz, who finished with 3/3 and 4 points beats at home.
THE CHRONICLE. Federico Celli continues with his splendid series and immediately places a single. On the rebounding of Angulo there is the advancement in third and on the valid of Ustariz here is the 1-0 that makes those who travel put their nose ahead. The first two innings of Gabriele Quattrini are of absolute control and in the 3rd the San Marino attack is extended. Epifano opens the second half with a great double, Ferrini moves him to third with a single and on the internal valid of Celli they enter two points for the 3-0 (there is also the wrong shot in first by Andretta). Crepaldi climbs up on the Bolognese mountain, with San Marino having the skill to place two sprints to advance Celli: the first of Angulo for the finish in third and the second of Ustariz for the 4-1.
Quattrini leaves the home attack at zero on the 3rd, but on the 4th he must capitulate. The base in Martini, the single by Gonzalez and the base in Deotto fill the cushions, with Grimaudo (infield fly) and Liberatore (strike out) to raise the San Marino prices. Immediately after, however, there is Dobboletta who puts the valid from two points: 4-2. Critical moment and change on the mountain for the Titans, with Mazzocchi closing every speech with the elimination of Bertossi (F7).
Mazzocchi also starts the fifth round well (Paolini 4-3 on the second pitch) but, after the first strike on Josephina, he has to raise the white flag due to a shoulder injury.
Luca Di Raffaele enters, who is first hit hard by Josephina’s double, but then takes control of the situation and closes on Martini and Gonzalez, both eliminated on the fly in the foul zone by Ustariz.
The team, despite the stumbling blocks of fate, is charged and active. The attack is ready and generates points often and willingly. At the 6th there is another San Marino sprint: double on the cushions of Angulo, single of 5-2 by Ustariz and great home run by Dudley Leonora for 7-2. In the lower part of the same second half Luca Di Raffaele does not allow arrivals on the base and at the 7th the team extends to 8-2 thanks to the base he concedes to Ferrini and the singles of Angulo and Ustariz.
More than reassuring scissors, an advantage that is reduced in the last fortitude attack for Bertossi’s solo-homer of 3-8, but then nothing more. Di Raffaele closes well, San Marino wins.

Race 3 is from Bologna with a score of 8-1. Never in this match has San Mario Baseball played, which in any case closes the triptych of “Gianni Falchi” with Unipolsai with an excellent balance of two victories and a knockout. Three points in the 3rd, two in the 4th and three in the 6th are enough for the hosts to win the Saturday night match, with Doriano Bindi’s team hitting the only goal in the 4th thanks to a single on the right. by Leonora. Vincente Gouvea, loser Baez. Three valid this time for the Titans, with 2/3 of Angulo in addition to the one already mentioned by Leonora.
THE CHRONICLE. Two good innings for Baez, then Bologna on the 3rd pass. He does it for 1-0 with a single from Paolini and a double from Josephina. Then, after the base in Martini, here is the 2-0 with Gonzalez’s double on the right. There is the change on the mountain: Luca Pulzetti climbs, who first hits Dobboletta, then gets the second elimination with Grimaudo’s sacrifice sprint for the 3-0 and finally finds the out on Dreni.
At 4th San Marino finds the 1-3 thanks to Leonora, who pushes Angulo to point with a single right (single internal plus advancement on Ustariz’s rebound). In the lower part, however, Fortitudo scores again thanks to Paolini’s two-point home run for the 5-1, with Di Fabio then taking over Pulzetti.
The San Marino attack in this game 3 fails to be effective and at the 6th Bologna stretches definitively with three points over Lorenzo Di Raffaele: the 6-1 arrives with a crazy pitch at full bases in Dobboletta’s turn, which two throws later touches the double of the final 8-1. Vincenzo Bologna.
