The European Council has granted Ukraine the status of a candidate for accession to the European Union. This was unanimously supported by the decisions of all EU leaders during the meeting in Brussels. Moldova has received the same status.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called the decision of the European Council “a victory that Ukrainians have been waiting for 120 days and 30 years.”
