Portugal below 100 thousand cases of Covid-19 in a week
Portugal recorded 95,943 cases of Covid-19 between the 14th and 20th of June, indicates the weekly report of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) released this Friday.
There are 17,000 fewer cases compared to the previous week, according to data from the health authority.
A total of 239 people with Covid-19, a drop of 22 deaths.
The rate of reduction by the new coronavirus is now at 23 deaths per million inhabitants, one of 8%.
In Portuguese hospitals, in the set of wards and intensive care, a total of 1,743 people were hospitalized with Covid-19, 153 less in a week. In intensive care there were 85, a reduction of 13 more seriously ill patients.
The number of people with Covid-19 hospitalized in Intensive Care Units (ICU) did not show an increasing trend, corresponding to 33.3% (in the previous period under analysis it was 38.4%) of the defined critical value of 255 occupied beds. .
The transmission rate (Rt) is at 0.88 and the probability dropped by 15%, to 932 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

The Algarve region and the Autonomous Region of the Azores showed a stable trend, while the other health regions showed an increasing trend.
The age group with the most deaths in the last week is the group over 80, which records 180 deaths from Covid-19.
The highest number of new cases verified in the 40-49 age group, with 16,141 infections between June 14 and 20.
“The Covid-19 epidemic maintains a much higher probability, although with an increasing trend”, according to the epidemiological situation monitoring report, also released this Friday.
The impact on hospitalizations presents a version of the growing trend and “specific mortality by Covid-19 a possible reversal of the trend, towards increasing, still with an impact on overall mortality”.
The Open House modality started this Friday to be for citizens aged 80 or over who meet the second dose of eligibility for the vaccine against Covid-19.
According to the DGS, so far, “about 380,000 people over 80 years of age, well above, as residents of Residential Structures for Elderly People (ERPI) have been vaccinated”.
