French Athletics Championships in Caen: what are the events to follow today?

The start of the French Elite Athletics Championships retained at 1:30 p.m., this Friday, June 24, 2022 at Caen Helitas Stadium. Three days of competition, mobilizing around 700 athletes, will begin in the warmth of Normandy. The first day reserves a relatively light program but which will seduce the Norman spectators…
Throws and combined events in the spotlight
Decathlon and heptathlon will be the red thread of the half-day of competition. The men’s 100 meters decathlon will kick off at 1:30 p.m. Half an hour later, the first contest will begin. It will be the male discus throw. Best French performer of the year, Lolasson Djouhan will try to win his seventh title of champion of France.
At 4:15 p.m., the first headliner of these French championships will be Alexandre Tavernier, fourth in the hammer at the last Olympic Games. Fourth in the Olympics in 2021, she is the French record holder with a throw of 75.28 meters.
His brother HugoFrench champion also last year, is delivered from 6:30 p.m. in the men’s competition. Quentin Bigot, who has thrown 80m55 this season, will be the favourite. He finished fifth in the Tokyo Olympics.
Edgar Levard, Valentin Gondouin and Aurore Guérin on the track
On the track side, the series of women’s 400 meters (5:05 p.m.), men’s 800 meters (5:45 p.m.), men’s 400 meters hurdles (6:10 p.m.) and women’s 1,500 meters (6:45 p.m.) will precede two finals: the women’s 5,000 meters (7:10 p.m. ) ) and male (7:35 p.m.). We will thus have three premises at the start of the evening. Edgar Levard (Caen AC) will try to qualify for the 400H final. Any other result would be a big disappointment for the Caennais, vice-champion of France in 2020.
On the side of the 5000 meters, Aurore Guerin (EA Mondeville-Hérouville) will try to transcend itself to offer itself a nice place of honor in front of its own, it which has already finished on a podium in France. Valentin Gondouin (EAMH) still has expectations, since he hopes to get closer to a top 5.
The day will end with the 400 meters of the decathlon, at 8:15 p.m.
