Tourism in Lisbon invests 6.1 million in promotional actions – Turismo & Lazer
The Lisbon Tourism Association (ATL) and around 800 associated companies invested 6.1 million euros to promote sector reform.

6.1 million euros were transmitted by various entities, including the Lisbon City Council, which made available “2.5 million euros of the amount raised by the tourist tax”, says ATL in a statement.
The Regional Tourism Entity of Lisbon assured another 1 million euros and Turismo de Portugal transferred 810 thousand euros to the initiative through the contracting of the External Tourism Promotion. The remaining 1.8 million euros were made available by Associação Turismo de Lisboa and associated companies, see the statement.
Almost half (three) of the total of millions of sales are directed to “companies’ marketing and sales actions in foreign markets, including participation in certain international markets, ‘online’ campaigns and promotion and sales actions with operators or channels” , says ATL. For this competition, 46 applications were approved, resulting from the participation of 101 companies.
For the domestic market sales plan, an investment of 392 thousand euros is foreseen, which will be applied in “initiatives located in poles located in potential or in development, being signaled as regions of the Tagus, Costa da Caparica, Arrábida and Mafra”, explains ATL. In this segment, the products to be marketed by the companies are related to the areas of Surf, Sun and Sea, Golf and Nature. This contest is still ongoing and, now, 14 candidates have already been approved as 18 competitors.
In support of attracting congresses, corporate events and associative events, they are already committed with a budget of around congresses for 2022 and beyond. This plan includes “the rental of rooms, spaces and ‘venues’ for meetings and congresses, as well as investment in audiovisual media, accommodation, ‘transfers’ and ‘catering'”, also refers to ATL. So far, 78 applications have been approved. This contest is also open.
The international program of festivals and other cultural events has a budget of 250 thousand euros available, to be applied, according to the ATL statement, in the “co-financing of international advertising plans abroad to attract public for these events”. They were approved as applications for the Rock Rio, NOS Alive, Kalorama Jazz festivals in August.
The remaining approximately 2 million euros will be offered to investors organized directly by Associação Turismo de Lisboa, with the participation of its members, including international fairs, international ‘workshops’ and ‘webinars’, ‘roadshows’, ‘sales blitz’ ‘ promotional materials and promotion, dabo of the promotion on the portal www.visa.com.
This program is reserved for applications from ATL members, except in exceptional cases duly identified, highlighted in a statement to the entity.
