Sweden warns citizens to travel to Iran after the trial of an Iranian official has ended
Sweden advised its citizens not to travel to Iran before the verdict in the trial against a former Iranian official, the Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
“Due to the security situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against all travel to Iran,” the ministry said in a statement.

Tensions between the two countries increased after Sweden brought to justice a former Iranian official accused of war crimes. He was tried for mass execution and torture of political prisoners in an Iranian prison in the 1980s.
The trial is set to begin on July 14.
In May, Iran announced that the Swedish-Iranian emergency medicine researcher Ahmadreza Djalali will be executed after being arrested on charges of spying for Israel.
Iran has arrested dozens of dual citizens and foreigners in recent years, mostly accused of espionage. The country does not recognize dual citizenship.
