To say the least the transfer window of Stade Malherbe Caen at his best. Even before the guardian Anthony Mandrea is officially announced, four players have already arrived in Caen. It is Romain Thomas, Samuel Essende, Quentin Daubin and Emmanuel Ntim. At the same time, the departure of Johann Lepenant has been definitively recorded, while that of Jessy Deminguet is being negotiated in the offices. How is the rest of the off-season shaping up in terms of arrivals and departures? Elements of response with the sports director of the SMC, Yohan Eudeline.
For Mendy and Abdi, “the door is completely closed”
While the name ofAli Abdi returns with insistence on the social networks, a departure of the Tunisian is not topical according to Yohan Eudeline. The left side, who chained several quality matches with the national team at the end of the season, is courted in Ligue 1. “He showed that we were not mistaken about him, explains Yohan Eudeline. It is normal that he is contacted but we want him to continue with us. »
In essence, the message is clear. It is not because Caen opened the door to Jessy Deminguet, after five years of good and loyal service, that others can think of rushing in. “We’re going to stop there because we want to build something on the foundations of last season. There is no question of starting from scratch. »
The message also applies to Alexandre Mendy. “He can still score around twenty goals in Ligue 2, believes Yohan Eudeline. For him as for Ali, the door is completely closed. »
Nuno Da Costa resumes in England
Nuno DaCosta will resume training at Nottingham Forest, the club which loaned him to Caen last season. The discovery of the Premier League is enough to make the Cape Verdean dream… who is not without knowing that the competition will be tough. For the moment, Caen is doing so. But… “The file is not simple, summarizes Yohan Eudeline. Last year (for the loan, editor’s note), I only had Nuno’s agent three or four times on the phone because we trusted each other. »
If the striker, author of nine goals last season, resolved to leave Nottingham, Caen would “surely be one step ahead of other clubs”. Nuno Da Costa, long desired, had arrived at the very end of the transfer window last season. Only, this time, Malherbe intends to complete its workforce as quickly as possible.
Jeannot and Rivierez push towards the exit
After the departures of Steve Chamal and of Yoel Armougom, on which the Caen staff did not really count, two thirty-somethings with a fairly minor role last season are invited to look elsewhere. One year from the end of their contract, Benjamin Jeannot and Jonathan Riverez are not part of Stéphane Moulin’s project.
“Benjamin is a top guy and a top player, but he does not correspond to what we want to put in place, recognizes Yohan Eudeline. We don’t kick players out. We will try to find a solution. “Same configuration for Jonathan Rivierez, who should not resume training until July 11, 2022 after having spent part of the holidays in the Martinican selection (like Yannis Clementia, who will resume on July 4).
Eight to ten suitable recruits
Caen was initially to recruit five to eight players. Finally, there will surely be “eight to ten”. It’s a lot for a group that consists of 18 seasoned outfield players plus three goalkeepers (Anthony Mandréa, Yannis Clementia and?).
Five names are known. For the rest, discussions are ongoing. Caen must in particular find a replacement for Jessy Deminguet. “Our job is to always anticipate. It’s not done yet, but we’re making progress. Yohan Eudeline seems confident on the issue. Replacing Jessy Deminguet, however, is not a simple matter…
A Quemper track?
Stephane Quemper is also one of the players that Malherbe is tracking. But can this indisputable holder of Guingamp sign if the door is really closed on Ali Abdi? It applies to the same left-back position. He is also under contract until 2024.
We were already following him in Bastia (he arrived at the EAG in January 2022, editor’s note). From there to imagine that he will be with us, we are going a bit far. Today, we made no offer to Guingamp.
Caen hopes to have its final group well before the first league match, set for July 30, 2022. “We want a group of players, not 11 starters and substitutes. Our desire is to have a better bench. »
Four expected loans
After the departure on loan of Sullivan Péan to DunkirkCaen hopes to loan four other players: Jason Ngouabi, Zeidane Inoussa, Ilyes Najim and Andreas Hountondji. For the latter, the plan seems more difficult to accept, while the specified clubs are legion. Inoussa and Ngouabi were already ready last season, while Najim played with the reserve team in N2.
Four young people integrated into the pro group
In addition to Brahim Traoré, four other 2004s will be integrated into the pro group last season, in addition to the 18 outfield players planned. They are Noé Lebreton, who postponed his recovery for a few days because of the baccalaureate exams, Diabé Bolumbu, who will compete in the Mediterranean Games in July, Mohamed Hafid and Norman Bassette.
