More than 50 “chefs” and 13 Michelin stars at the international festival in Lisbon – Observador
Foodtopia, the first international street food festival in Lisbon, brings together more than 50 chefs, 13 Michelin-starred restaurants, music and artistic installations on the 2nd and 3rd of July, the organization announced today.
With the Brazilian Atala (restaurant “Dom”, two Michelin stars, São Paulo) as its official ambassador, the event aims to showcase “new-blooded cooks and cooks”, in addition to highlighting a delegation dedicated to France, within the scope of the program’s programming. Portugal-France 2022 Cruzada Season, as well as the cuisine of Portuguese-speaking African countries.
According to the organization, in charge of the company Amuse Bouche, during Foodtopia, which will take place at the Tropical Botanical Garden of the University of Lisbon, in Belém, the “chefs” will “cooking and narratives in an idyllic setting, where storytellers, musicians, puppets and artistic installations are also hidden”.
Portuguese haute cuisine will be in the spotlight, with the presence of chefs from restaurants with two Michelin stars — Rui Paula (“Casa de Chá da Boa Nova”, Porto), Henrique Sá Pessoa (“ALMA”, Lisbon), Hans Neuner (“Ocean”, Porches) and David Jesus (sous chef “Belcanto”, Lisbon) — and with a star — Alexandre Silva (“Loco”, Lisbon), Manuel Maldonado (executive chef “100 Maneiras”, Lisbon), Pedro Almeida (“Midori”, Lisbon), Gil Fernandes (“Fortaleza do Guincho”, Guincho), Louis Anjos (“ Al Sud”, Lagos), Rui Silvestre (“Vistas Rui Silvestre”, Vila Nova de Cacela), Tiago Bonito (“Largo do Paço”, Amarante) and Vincent Farges (“Epur”, Lisbon).
The “chefs” Marlene Vieira, António Galapito, Hugo Brito, Rodrigo Castelo or Michele Marques are also present, and there is also a bet on the “protagonists of the new Portuguese cuisine”, such as Alana Mostachio, Bernardo Agrela, Filipe Ramalho, Alessandra Borsato, Nikita Polido , Angélica Salvador, Leonor Godinho or Marcella Ghirelli.
Only on Sunday, three “great Portuguese gastronomic institutions”, Cervejaria Ramiro, Solar dos Presuntos (‘chef’ Hugo Araújo) and Mugasa (‘chef’ Ricardo Nogueira), will serve some of their best-known dishes.
The festival also intends publish the gastronomy of some of the most representative communities in the countrywhich will feature the participation of Dulce Silva (Guinea-Bissau), Eleutério Assunção (São Tomé and Príncipe), Sheila Abreu (Mozambique), Helt Araújo (Angola) and Tony Fox (“Fox Coffee ‘O Rei da Cachupa’”). .

In “Rua da França”, “the new generation of resident cooks and the protagonists of classic cuisine are shown, some of them in Portugal, others with strong and Lusophone Lusophone roots”, such as Jean-Luc Damieux-Verdeau, Jessica Giovanini, Aaron Rosenthal, Natalie Castro, Julien Montbabut and Joana Thöny Montbabut, Vincent Farges, Frederic Breitenbucher and André Lanza Cordeiro.
The program also includes presentations, with themes such as bread, citrus, Amazonia or natural wines. The space will be animated with jugglers, musicians and traveling theater, in charge of the Manicómio, Companhia XPTO and Grupo Bifurcação.
The festival is co-organized by Amuse Bouche, Lisbon City Council, Turismo de Portugal and is part of the 2022 Portugal-France Cruzada Season. single price of six euros.
