Lisbon Chamber approves financial support for homeless people
Presented by the councilor of the Chamber of Human and Social Rights at the Lisbon Chamber of Rights, Laurinda Alves (independently elected by the Novos Tempos coalition (PSD/CDS-PP/MPT/PPM/Aliança), the proposal to support municipal financial support to the Community Vida e Paz is related to the Municipal Plan for the Homeless Person 2019-2023.
At a meeting of the municipal executive, the proposal was unanimously approved and refers to the designation for the execution of the Integrative project for people in a situation of homeless project “for twelve months”, in which the 233.6 thousand euros divided into two installments , 140.16 thousand euros this year and 93.44 thousand euros in 2023, an amount “does not represent any aggravation of the charges already borne by the municipality”.
The Integrative Unit project is being implemented by Comunidade Vida e Paz in a municipal space on Avenida Marechal Francisco da Costa Gomes, in Quinta do Lavrado, in the parish of Penha de França.

The winning entities were AVA – Associação Vida Autónoma na (North East area), Crescer na Maior – Community Intervention Association (Central South area), CVP – Comunidade Vida e Paz (Central area) and VITAE – Associação de Solidariedade and International Development (Western zone), in which each will receive around 71,600 euros until 2023.

Other proposals made possible were the draft cooperation protocol to be signed between the High Commissioner for Migration (ACM) and the municipality of Lisbon, for the implementation of the pilot project “Integrar Valoriza”, approved in July 2021 by the Council of Ministers, to national implementation of decentralized public policy measures in the area of reception and integration of immigrants.
According to the proposal of councilor Laurindalves, “to continue to guarantee a good reception and integration of the immigrant population”, due to the interest she had in the network of municipalities that make up the project “Integrar Valoriza”, already expressed by her municipality to the ACM.
