On Tuesday, the price of 95-octane petrol on motorways reached 1.94 euros per liter, higher than the previous record of 10 May on 1.78 euros. The price of diesel reached 2.28 euros per liter, while the previous May record was 1.92 euros. 10.
In response, the government decided on Tuesday to limit off-highway prices to 1.755 euros per liter of 95-octane petrol and 1.848 euros per liter of diesel, while fuel prices on motorways are set by petrol dealers.
Curbing rising fuel prices is one of the most difficult direct tasks of the center-left government, led by Prime Minister Robert Golob, who took office earlier this month.
Due to rising fuel prices, year-on-year inflation in Slovenia rose to 8.7 percent in May, which is the highest value in the last 20 years.
