TCU Soccer: Bright Off To Sweden
TCU: er Messiah Light has just won the Nobel Prize for podiatric well-being and will go to Sweden to collect his $ 1,000,000 +.
Well, not exactly.
She comes travel to Sweden, however, and for good reasons. Messiah Bright has been named to the US-U23 Women’s Youth National Team and will be in Sweden in June. Bright and the rest of the list of 21 players will compete in friendly matches against India and Sweden in the Women’s U-23 Three-Nations Tournament.
The American team will meet India on June 25 in Helsingborg in the first match ever between an American women’s national team and India, which will host the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in October. The USA will then meet Sweden on June 28 in Vittsjö.
Bright will make his U-23 national team debut after an incredible senior season that included a complete rewrite of TCU’s record books. The native of Dallas, Texas scored 40 points in one year, first in TCU’s history, thus scoring 17 goals (also a record) and six assists; all told that she set a career record for goals (39) and points (all 92!).
Her efforts on the field earned her first team all-Big 12 awards. She was named Big 12 Player of the Week twice during the regular season and was the key to TCU’s victory in the Big 12 Tournament title and a spot in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. Bright was named the Big 12 Tournament’s most outstanding offensive player, receiving awards from the United Soccer Coaches Association First Team All-America and becoming the fifth frog to be named All-American in the last two years.
Fans of TCU athletics have cause for excitement: Ms. Bright will return to TCU for his Covid relief year this season.
The Frogs launch the 2022 campaign, which will host Wisconsin on August 18 in Garvey-Rosenthal.
