Statement: Norway must comply with the decision of the UN Security Council
Of Anti-war initiative.
The war in Ukraine has been going on for almost 4 months. Our answer remains: Negotiations, agreements and peace in Ukraine. Where is Norway in this? Together with Mexico, we submitted a proposal to the UN Security Council on 6 May which was adopted unanimously:
Statement by the President of the Security Council
At the Security Council’s 9028th meeting, held on 6 May 2022, in connection with the Council’s consideration of the item “Maintaining Ukraine’s peace and security“, The President of the Security Council issued the following statement on behalf of the Council:
“The Security Council expresses its deep concern at the declaration of peace and security in Ukraine.
The Security Council recalls that, under the Charter of the United Nations, everyone has taken on the responsibility of resolving their international disputes by peaceful means.
The Security Council expresses strong support for the Secretary – General’s efforts to find a peaceful solution.
The Security Council asks the Secretary-General to inform the Security Council after this statement has been adopted. “
These are solutions in line with the UN Charter’s clear lines for conflict resolution.
So what does Norway do? Completely ignore a decision we have made ourselves and instead send more weapons to Ukraine! So more death and destruction! Now the Minister of Defense Bjørn Arild Gram says that it is relevant for Norway to train Ukrainian soldiers in the use of weapons, and he does not want to rule out that it can happen on Norwegian soil.
It is a shame for the so-called peace nation Norway. This must end immediately. We demand that the Storting and the Government take the decision from the UN Security Council and start implementing it as soon as possible. Preferably with Mexico and other countries.
