San Marino. Donate to the Olympic medalists the coins that celebrate the successes of Tokyo 2020
In the afternoon today, before the Official Audience granted by the Captains Regent to the San Marino delegation that will take part in the XIX Mediterranean Games in Oran, the San Marino athletes Alessandra Perilli, Gian Marco Berti and Myles Amine Mularoni were received at the Secretariat of State for Tourism, which holds the delegation division to the Post Office, for a short ceremony during which they received the coins minted in the year 2021 by the Philatelic and Numismatic Office of San Marino, now internal to Poste San Marino, to celebrate their successes at the Games Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Alessandra Perilli, won an individual bronze medal and a silver medal paired with Gian Marco Berti in clay pigeon shooting. Myles Amine Mularoni won a bronze medal in the fight.
To celebrate the successes of the San Marino athletes, two coins were minted, one worth 5 euro, in copper CU 999 ‰ (smooth edge, weight 15g, diameter 32mm) with the image of a combat phase by Myles Amine Mularoni and one worth 10 euros, in AG 925 ‰ silver (knurled edge, weight 22.4g, diameter 34mm) with the images of Gian Marco Berti and Alessandra Perilli as they raise their rifle (the shooter’s is a bronze insert). Both sketches were edited by Orietta Rossi and Antonella Napolione.
To welcome and reward the athletes the Secretary of State for Finance Marco Gatti, the Secretary of State for Work and Sport Teodoro Lonfernini, the President of the San Marino National Olympic Committee Gian Primo Giardi, the Secretary General Eros Bologna, the Director General of Poste San Marino Gian Luca Amici as well as the director of the Philatelic and Numismatic Division Rosemarie Stacchini.
Also present was the Special Secretary of the Secretariat of State for Tourism, Cooperation, the Post Office and the Expo Luca Lazzari in replacement of the Secretary of State Federico Pedini Amati.
To accompany the athletes, the coaches of the Shooting Federation and of the Judo, Wrestling, Aikido Federation.
Federico Pedini Amati (Secretary of State for Tourism, Cooperation, Post Offices and Expo): “Apologizing to the athletes, the managers of the CONS and my colleagues for the absence, however, I intend to reiterate my personal gratitude and the whole country’s gratitude to these guys who have accomplished a feat that still today, after 1 year, is in the heart of all of us. These two small masterpieces of the Philatelic and Numismatic Division that we give to our athletes together with the enormous masterpieces that they have been able to give to all San Marino citizens today. The prestige of the result obtained deserves every possible honor, we hope to have repaid, at least in part, their efforts, making their enterprise immortal with the minting of these two coins “.
Marco Gatti (Secretary of State for Finance): “Once again, I address immense thanks to these guys, who have been able to give so many unique emotions to all San Marino citizens. Guys who are the best example for our young people, the incarnation that nothing is impossible if you put passion and commitment into it. I am sure that, following your example, many other young people will approach sports and will be able to bring, in the next few years, sensational results that will give prestige to the Republic in the world ”.
Teodoro Lonfernini (Secretary of State for Work and Sport): “I will repeat myself this time as I have done so many times after the events of August last year: Alessandra, Gian Marco and Myles have done something incredible and which will remain forever in the history of this country. Something beautiful, so beautiful that now we want this to happen again. On Saturday they will leave for the Mediterranean Games and we are eager to celebrate more incredible results. The San Marino community will once again be encouraging and rallying around all our athletes ”.
