Portugal will organize Goalball World Cups in December 2022 – Observer
Portugal will organize between December 5 and 17, in Matosinhos, the goalball World Championships, announced this Monday the National Sports Association for People with Visual Impairments (ANDDVIS), which oversees the sport in national terms.
The competition, attributed to Portugal by the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA), is played in the male and female sides, with the Asian teams still in progress or qualification.
IBSA had already assigned Portugal to organize the European championships (group B)which will take place between 12 and 20 November, also in the two naves of the Centro de Desportos e Congressos de Matosinhos.
Speaking to ANDDVIS, the Portuguese selected, Márcia Ferreira, considered a “proud” the Portuguese garlic lace of the eventwhich will bring together 32 teams, and classified the sporting competition as “a unique opportunity in terms”.
“It is a unique opportunity for Portugal, which as an organizer will have access to the event, something that would not be done in our country. For ourselves and for all Portuguese people, for our families and for the noble cause of high competition Paralympic sport, we will seize this opportunity and We will do everything to see Portugal in the fight with the best of the best“, he stated.
Goalball is a collective sport for visually impaired goals, with metallic rattles, on the advanced scale or through manual throws.
A sport, created for people with disabilities, has been part of the Paralympic program since Toronto1976.
