Gourmet guide: Gault & Millau awards Munich’s best restaurants – Munich
The big surprise is probably that “Rising Star of the Year”: Viktor Gerhardinger, head chef at the vegetarian restaurant Tian on the Viktualienmarkt. The 32-year-old has also been awarded three black toques, which puts him in the top league in Munich for Gault & Millau. The gourmet guide now awards up to five toques, each in red or black, with red being a bit better because it is more interesting and outstanding.
Munich has a total of three three red hoods: she now has the dining room in the BMW World under chef Bobby Bräuer, the Tantris with chef Benjamin Chmura and the Tohru restaurant in Tohru Nakamura’s writing room. Six restaurants have each three black hoods receive. In addition to the Tian, the Atelier im Bayerischen Hof (chef Anton Gschwendtner), Les Deux (Nathalie Leblond and Gregor Goncharov), the Sparkling Bistro (Jürgen Wolfsgruber and Johannes Maria Kneip), the Tantris DNA (Virginie Protat) and the Werneckhof Sigi Schelling , who is of course also the head chef there, excellent. Hans Haas’ former sous-chef at Tantris became self-employed last year and has been fully booked ever since.
Two red hoods there are seven in the city. According to the Gault & Millau, the Acetaia (head chef Giorgio Maetzke) is probably one of the best Italians in the city. The Hippocampus restaurant (chef Mimmo Ruggiero) is also in this class. The Jin is also a “pan-Asian restaurant”, as owner and chef Hao Jin is sure. The other four passengers are more in the pattern of upscale gourmet cuisine: the fork game by Florian and Sabrina Berger, the mural (chef Joshua Leise), the showroom (Dominik Käppeler) and the Schwarzreiter restaurant in the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten (Hannes Reckziegel).
Two black hoods the testers awarded twelve restaurants: Acquarello, Blauer Bock, Essence Restaurant, Japanese restaurant Kaito, Käfer-Schänke, Landersdorfer & Innerhofer, Mun, Restaurant Ederer, Restaurant Huber and Pageou, das Tivu and the Neuner wine house. In addition, there was a red toque for six bars and a black toque for 19 restaurants, pubs and bars.
