who is Mathilde Paris, the new deputy of the 3rd circo du Loiret?
After a second round between the MoDem and the National Rally, Mathilde Paris finally won the victory in the 3rd district of Loiret with a score of 52.22%.
At the end of the second round Mathilde Paris, the candidate of the National Rally, was elected on June 19 as deputy for the 3rd constituency of Loiret. She wins with 52.22% of the vote, about 1400 votes or difference, on her rival Carine Barbier, candidate invested by the Modem.
Involved in politics for nearly ten years, Mathilde Paris, 37, is part of the same generation as the new thirty-year-old executives of the National Rally, such as Jordan Bardella and Aleksandar Nikolic. Between 2014 and 2021, she sat on the municipal council of Blois and on the community council, before relocating to Loiret, where she is the departmental head of the RN. In 2015, she joined the regional council, where she is still elected.
Mathilde Paris has made rurality and everyday subjects the pivot of her campaign, facing a MoDem candidate whom she criticizes for being “Aboveground“. A strategy which, taking advantage of the dissensions on the right, allowed her to reach the second round with a lead of ten points over her competitor (30.82% against 20.92% for Carine Barbier). Presenting herself as an opponent “constructive” to Emmanuel Macron, she promised during the in-between rounds that she would be “this elected official who will reconcile the territories with the State“.
A newcomer to politics, Carine Barbier had her work cut out to win against Mathilde Paris. His last electoral campaign during the municipal election of Orleans alongside the outgoing mayor Olivier Carré (LREM) had not allowed him to obtain a seat on the municipal council.
In her own camp either, the arrival of Carine Barbier as a candidate was not unanimous, since she took the place from the departmental representative of LREM, Nicolas Bertrand. This last seen in this investiture the arbitration of Marc FesneauMoDem Minister of Agriculture and MP for Loir-et-Cher.
Carine Barbier also had to deal with the dissemination of false information, in particular about her place of residence: her opponents had hinted that she lived outside the constituency, in Orléans, while her main residence is in Ardon. Communication delegate for France 3 Centre-Val de Loire, she stepped back from her duties during the campaign. Elected, the rules of the National Assembly will oblige her to leave them for the duration of her mandate.
