“The PKK terrorist group’s actions in Sweden show how lax Swedish laws are”
BELGRADE, Serbia
The PKK terror group’s actions in Sweden show how lax the Swedish laws and authorities are in the fight against terrorism, Türkiye’s foreign minister said on Friday.
Cavusoglu’s comments came during a joint press conference with his Croatian counterpart Gordan Grlic-Radman in the capital Zagreb.
“The terrorist organization PKK harms not only us in Turkey but also Sweden’s national interests. In particular, it does everything to prevent Sweden from becoming a member of NATO. There is already a replacement (in Sweden) who supports the PKK / YPG.
“He (the deputy) literally took the Swedish government hostage. He is constantly threatening. There are also authorities and institutions in Sweden that do not want the country to become a NATO member. Especially the PKK / YPG does everything. It has taken the government quite a lot. hostage “, said Cavusoglu.
Sweden and Finland, in the midst of their NATO bids, are under pressure from Turkey to end its support for the terrorist group PKK / YPG, where Ankara says that the bloc is a security alliance and that all potential members must take a clear stand against terrorism.
In its more than 35-year-old terrorist campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union – has been responsible for the deaths of more than 40,000 people, including women, children and infants. The YPG is the Syrian offshoot of the PKK terrorist group.
