Salzburg company takes over air rescue in Burgenland
Business
According to the state government in Eisenstadt, air rescue in Burgenland will no longer be carried out by ÖAMTC Christophorus helicopters from 2025, but by the Salzburg Martin air rescue service with its headquarters in St. Johann (Pongau).
The company of the commercial pilot and fleet manager Roy Knaus emerged from a tender as the first to mature, the state media service of Burgenland announced on Friday afternoon.
Point system in five categories
In the bidding process, the bidders had the opportunity to receive points in five categories. The shortening of the site provision, the deployment time, the fuel consumption and the CO2 emissions, the personnel concept and the price were evaluated, according to the state.
Martin Flugrettung GmbH, which also operates air rescue locations in Upper Austria, Tyrol and Salzburg, came first with 87.67 points. Until the formal conclusion of the procedure, however, a standstill period until next Tuesday was agreed. No further details are expected to be announced until then.
Future two locations in Burgenland
The exact locations of the emergency doctor helicopters have not yet been finally determined. What is certain, however, is that from 2023 there will be a location in the Neusiedl am See district – where the planned new hospital in Gols is located – and another location from 2026 in the Oberwart district – after the contract with the existing partner has expired.
ÖAMTC examines objections and presents arguments
An ÖAMTC spokesman confirmed the changes at the request of APA. You have already been informed about the result of the tender and have informed about the members in a letter. Possibilities to appeal the result are currently being examined. The letter available to APA also states: “A minimal price difference was the deciding factor – contrary to our recognized higher quality.”
