For the first time, Portugal joins the celebration of ‘World Day’
The Atlantis Mission joins a global initiative of lectures and workshops with the sustainability of the planet and the power of action at the local level as mottos. On June 21, the world location day is celebrated with an Ocean Talks that brings together 7 speakers at Cineteatro Municipal João Mota, Sesimbra.
Localization is a worldwide movement, created by filmmaker Helena Norberg-Hodge and this is the first time that Portugal has joined this celebration. It is a rescue of the economy to a human scale, through the valorization of the local production of goods and services to a community. Cultivating local resources and the well-being of the world, promoting local health, promoting local impact. This day will be known with an Ocean Talks, with free admission, at Cineteatro Municipal João Mota, in Sesimbra, between 17:00 and 20:30, but they can also be seen in streaming. The Ocean Talks consist of a set of inspiring talks that aim to draw attention to the importance of acting at the local level.
Will have as presenter the actress and activist Mafalda Matos and will feature seven speakers: Andreas Noah, who started a tour of Portugal on the 25th of April, 55 days on a bicycle to pick up rubbish. He is founder of The Trash Traveler and will tell how his adventures cycling 3000km and how creativity and positivism help awareness bring and connect people with the ocean; Eunice Maia, founder of Maria Granel, will focus on Local Education, by being a witness to a project that rescued its roots and showed the power of the community. On the 5th of June, on World Environment Day, she won the Inspiration Award from Vision Green Awards, given by the President of the Republic himself; already Livia Tirone, will bring the topic of Local Architecture and Urbanism. Architect for 30 years, she was a pioneer in the issue of sustainability by developing houses and buildings with ecological structure, awareness and knowledge; with the theme of local fashion, Joana Campos Silva, by Fashion Makers, takes a look at what we don’t see and how this decision impacts water and the environment; in the second part, Local Food will be the focus of the Ayurveda chef, Francisco Basilio, with a perspective on local consumption and how, in addition to the socio-economic benefits, this philosophy of life protects and benefits our digestive system; the theme of the Local Economy will be presented by Barbara Leão de Carvalho, specialist in regenerative marketing and founder of Bio Vila. It brings to the talk one of financial liquidity in the greater angle of the fluidity of water as a form of local abundance; and finally, Virgílio Varela, consultant and founder of Humanfleet, closed the series of lectures with the theme Take Action. He has been part of the Oceans and Flow family for over 6 years and is a facilitator of collective intelligences, believing that we all have a unique essence and potential to create conscious actions that regenerate ourselves and the planet.
