Andorra’s promotion to second puts him in another mess
Gerard Piqué He is in a very difficult moment. Personally, his separation from Shakira it is forcing him to go through a complex trance that will involve seeing his children less. In sports, he is obliged to take a step forward after Xavi asked him for one more point of effort and concentration or he wouldn’t count on him.
Now a new front is opening up: complaints from Andorra. Piqué owns the most important football team in the Principality, the FC Andorrathat between controversy and criticism from his rivals, has achieved the promotion to professionalism after moving up to Second Division, so this should be a little oasis between the problems. Nothing further.
Andorra plays at the National Stadium, a field that, due to its characteristics, until now was more than enough to meet the demands of the First RFEF. Now when he arrives in LaLiga, in the Second Division, he will have to adapt and that also implies that he should have preference in its use… which is not exclusive.
FC Andorra shares the field with, among others, the country’s XV rugby teamwho have raised the tone of the complaints because They demand that they can also play there. With the arrival in Segunda and the works that are going to be undertaken, the VPC Andorra (the XV rugby team) will have to find another field.
The Andorran Rugby Federation (FAR) is going to submit its complaint to the country’s government, because it understands that its position is not being respected to give preponderance to the soccer team. “As far as I know, the name of the stadium is still Estadi Nacional, not Estadi Gerard Piqué”publicly complained David Farre, former president of the FAR and current member of the board of directors. “It would be a shame for our country to have a National Stadium and for the national team matches to have to go away. If they are not happy (FC Andorra), let them go play somewhere else”, he made clear, in statements collected by ‘El Periodic’.
The problem of promotion and the consequent works has confronted rugby directly with Piqué. From the FAR they have no intention of leaving Andorra La Vella, while the politicians understand that the specific weight of the football team can be improved from the economic and political point of view in its relations with Spain.
“It is time that the Government consider promoting rugby and realize that there is not only soccer and basketball in this country,” he said, in relation to how the Morabanc Andorra has passed them by.
This Monday there will be a meeting at the Government headquarters between all the parties and an attempt will be made to find an urgent solution.
