After three years of forced stop, the Paris e-Prix will finally be back in the capital in April 2023. The question of the circuit remains unresolved, however, while that of the Invalides becomes too small for new cars.
The Formula E, does that remind you of something ? This is the equivalent electric of the Formula 1, and the first international competition bringing together electric racing cars. This championship of single-seaters puts car manufacturers in competition on their electric technologies, and one of the races will once again pass through Paris! After a three-year hiatus due to the coronavirus, theParis ePrix will finally be back in April 2023but maybe not at the Invalides this time!
Indeed, so far the circuit Paris e-Prix measured 1.93km and depended 14 bendstaking the avenues located around theHotel invalidities. But since the 2018-2019 season, riders have been using the Gen2, a single-seater with an increased top speed, soon to be abolished by the Gen3, an even faster car with nearly 470 hp of power. The Invalides circuit therefore becomes more and more unsuitable and too narrow for these new generation cars.
Discussions are underway with the city hall of paris to pay enlarge the plotwithout having a major impact on traffic around Les Invalides. “The one people talk about a lot is Paris, with a lot of 90° turns. It’s a real street circuit, but it’s going to be complicated. We’re talking to Paris about whether we can change the layout of the track , because we still really want to race there, and we plan to do so from 2023”, says Formula E CEO Jamie Reigle.
