Metropolitano de Lisboa starts hiring staff to reinforce teams
The measure represents an increase in personnel expenses of 3.6 million euros, according to a note from the ministry supervised by Duarte Cordeiro.
Metropolitano de Lisboa announced this Thursday that it has already started hiring train drivers and strengthening maintenance teams, following the authorization given by the Government to hire 58 workers.
In a statement, the company is open to competition for 22 commercial operators to be promoted to train drivers, eight through internal progression, adding that another five are taking place on 31 July for the advancement of workers.
The hiring follows the authorization granted by the Government, under the Activities and Budget Plan for 2022, for the hiring of 58 workers: 34 traffic agents, 13 maintenance officers, construction inspectors and nine specialized technicians.
For Metropolitano de Lisboa, “the recruitment authorization or the permission granted respond to the main proposals” of the union structures, as it would allow an immediate acceptance of workers, as well as, respectively, career progressions in order to complete existing vacancies” .

On Tuesday, the Environment and Climate Action Budget announced in a statement that it authorized Metropolitano de Lisboa to hire 58 workers, within the scope of the 2022 Activities and Climate Action Plan.

The reinforcement of labor events comes at a time when there are several strikes in the company, including at work and special extras during the month of June, as happened on the night of Santo António (from Sunday to Monday).

Metropolitano de Lisboa operates daily with four lines: Yellow (Rato-Odivelas), Green (Telheiras-Cais do Sodré), Blue (Reboleira-Santa Apolónia) and Red (Airport-São Sebastião).
Normally, the metro runs between 06:30 and 01:00.
