Finavia will centralize services at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport
The Finnish airport operator Finavia is concentrating registersecurity checks and baggage deliveries at one terminal at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport from 21 June.
The operator believes that centralizing these services will make it easier for passengers to move around the airport.
Parking areas and a bus station are also in the immediate vicinity of the terminal.
Ulla Lettijeff, Finavia’s Director of Helsinki-Vantaa, comments on the development: “We are turning a new magazine into the history of Helsinki-Vantaa, as departing and returning passengers will now be served in our new, magnificent terminal.
“Passengers no longer have to worry about which terminal they’re leaving or where they’re coming in.”
Terminals 1 and 2 and the corridor connecting them will be closed.
Finavia will also close the airport’s old departure and arrival hall. These facilities will be converted into passenger and staff facilities.
Lettijeff added: “The last time Helsinki-Vantaa Airport operated was in one terminal almost 30 years ago. The terminal in use at the time was the first actual passenger terminal, opened in 1969 and later expanded in 1983.
The airport opened a new terminal for domestic flights in 1993.
In March, Finavia announced its launch advanced security control technology at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.
The technology puts an end to passengers ’demand to remove liquids and electronics from their hand luggage.
