THE BALL – «I would tell Enzo Fernández to go to Portugal… especially if FC Porto calls him» (Benfica)
Argentine Lucho González, 41, a former FC Porto player who retired last year from Athletico Paranaense, in Brazil, spoke to D-Sports Radio 103.1, on the program ‘Como te va’, and one of the themes was Benfica’s interest in River Plate midfielder Enzo Fernández.
“I think he is a player who can stay in Portugal for many years. Wherever it goes, it will continue to grow. I would tell Enzo Fernández to, without a doubt, go to Portugal, especially if FC Porto calls him… It is a club that will make him take the leap in Europe and will open a door for him to other greats in European football”, he said.
And he recalled his times at Invicta and in Portugal, also praising Benfica and Sporting and recognizing that they can also be springboards for South American players. «FC was one of the clubs where I had the most experience in my career. It’s an incredible club, Benfica and Sporting too. These are teams that open the door for you to reach different clubs in Europe, such as Barcelona, Chelsea or Real Madrid. It is a gateway that allows adaptation to European football.
Regarding the future, Lucho, who is an assistant precisely at Athletico Paranaense, assumes that «one day Racing would like to go on a diet», from Argentina, a club whose symbol he has tattooed on his body and which he has rooted for since he was a child and which he never got to represent.
