Portugal closes with two national records fourth day of the adapted adaptation World Cup
Ivo Rocha was fourth in the final of the 200 meters SM 5 styles, and again beat the national record, setting himself at 3.18.24 after having already done it in the morning qualifiers, in which he obtained a mark of 3.19.52.
The swimmer from Santa Maria da Feira, who was already a national record holder with the mark of 3.
In the final of the 100 meters freestyle S9, in which she won a silver medal at the 2021 European Championships, Susana Veiga was ranked fifth with a mark of 1.04.19 minutes, increasing the national record (01.04.33) that already belongs to her.
Susana Veiga, who is the European champion of the 50 meters freestyle S9, finished the final of 1.15 seconds of the new world champion, the Brazilian Mariana Ribeiro, who clocked 1.03.04 seconds.
Daniel Videira was the sixth medallion8 in the final 40,34,12, the mark of the winner, the Italian, who swam in 4.57.72, and who already second seconds in Madeira, of the two free meters gold and two bronze
On Thursday, four swimmers will compete in the morning heats, in the final heats, all in freestyle: Susana Veiga, in the 400 S9; Diogo Cancela, nº 50 S8; Marco Meneses, no. 100 S11; and Daniel Videira, nº 50 S6.
After four days of competition, Italy leads the medal table, with a total of 37 medals (16 gold, 11 silver and 10 bronze followed by the United States, which adds 20 (14 gold, three silver) and three bronze), and Brazil, which follows with 35 podiums (11 gold, eight silver and 16 bronze).
In adapted swimming, athletes are divided into 14 classes, with classes for swimmers with motor disabilities, such as classes between 11 and 13 for visual impairment, and 14 for intellectual impairment.
The Adapted Swimming World Cups, which are the first major international competition of the Paris2024 Paralympic cycle, take place until Saturday in Funchal and bring together more than 600 athletes from 70 countries, including 10 Portuguese.
