Paris: a very useful map to find the “islands of freshness” in the heat wave
Where can you find cool islands in the capital? The Parisian urban planning workshop (Apur) has created a map listing all the places where it is possible to get in the shade.
In these times of high heat, a precise map of all the Parisian sites where it is possible to cool off during the day but also at night is available on the Apur site, which had been commissioned by the municipality “to define, identify and then map the islands and paths of freshness in Paris”.
Very complete, it lists various elements, from the usual fountains and other vaporizers to free bathing areas and swimming pools, including museums, libraries and places of worship. It also classifies green spaces according to their exposure to the sun.

The Apur card is available in two versions. The first concerns the day:
And the second applies for the night:
Note that it is also possible to access this map, in an interactive and even more detailed version, on website of the city of Paris.
In total, the Apur lists 565 spaces and woodlands including gardens, parks, woods, cemeteries with a color code according to their freshness, 36 bathing places including swimming pools, aquatic centers and outdoor bathing areas, 25 misted places and water games including mirrors water and fogger.
But also 150 establishments open to the public and naturally cool, including churches and museums, as well as 46 establishments open to the public and air-conditioned, including museums and libraries.
