Hot weather and thunderstorms: almost all districts of mainland Portugal under yellow warning
Almost all mainland districts are on notice due to thunderstorm or hot weather forecast. In Évora, temperatures can reach almost 40 degrees.
Warning until late afternoon this Wednesday, five districts of mainland Portugal are under yellow because of hot weather.
The Instituto Português do Atmosfera (IPMA) foresees maximum limits of 38º degrees for Beja and 39º for Évora. Castelo Branco, Portalegre and Santarém can reach 37 degrees.
In the North and Center, thunderstorm forecast.
The districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Aveiro and Coimbra are under yellow warning until 21:00.
Inland, there are four districts – Bragança, Guarda, Vila Real and Viseu – with double warning: hot weather and thunderstorms.
With hot weather increases the risk of fire. There are 60 counties in maximum danger. They belong mainly to the northern interior. In these regions it is forbidden to make, use forest machines, burnt rockets and balloons with lit fuses..
In addition to these warnings, the IPMA causes the country to be hit by dust from Africa. There will be a gradual temperature until the end of the week. On Sunday, the thermometers should not be close to 26 degrees.
