SE: Nevin and Siemsen get assistance in Sweden; Rosengård expands undefeated line
Two Aussies picked assists in Sweden; while FC Rosengård and San Diego Wave FC retain their place at the top of the table.
Kick-off in the USA, Alex Chidiacs Racing Louisville faced its third straight defeat and went down 3-2 against Angel City FC. Goals for Gemma Bonner and Christen Press in the first half made the sides go to the break at the position 1-1. Savannah McCaskill gave the visitors the lead with 2-1 before Nadia Nadim equalized from place for Lousiville.
McCaskill gave Angel City the lead as he successfully challenged the guests’ central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. Chidiac started the game and played 51 minutes for his new side.
Move to Kansas, Chloe Logarzos Kansas City Current defeated NJ / NY Gotham FC 1-0, with a winner in the 84th minute from Kristen Hamilton defeating the win.
Our last stop in the US takes us to San Diego, there Emily van EgmondThe San Diego Wave retained its place at the top of the table after a 1-1 draw against West Coast Rivals’ OL Reign.
Wave opened the scoring just eight minutes in, and a long ball from goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan found Alex Morgan scoring his ninth goal of the season. Jess Fishlock had the equalizer just before the halftime break, both sides could not find the winner.
Wave remains in first place on the steps, with Van Egmond playing a full 90 minutes in midfield.
Moving to Sweden, Clare Polkinghorne and Katrina Gorry both started for Vittsjö GIK when they defeated BK Häcken 3-2.
Sandra Adolfsson opened the scoring in the 28th minute before Mille Gejl found the equalizer for Hacken to send in the sides at 1-1 at the break. Goals for Jutta Rantala and Clara Markstedt in the second half secured the win for Vittsjö GIK.
Vittsjö and Häcken are now equal on points on the table, this win for Vittsjö takes them to 26 points. However, the hurdle remains at four with a better goal difference.
away in Malmö, Teagan Micah and Charli GrantFC Rosengård extended their undefeated series to 14 matches and beat Umeå in 12th place with 5-2.
Micah started in goal for the hosts and Rosengård had a 5-0 lead in the 84th minute, before two goals in quick succession from the guests saw them strike back to 5-2.
Grant was not in the match day squad for the step leaders.
In Stockholm, Courtney Nevin and Kyra Cooney-Cross’ Hammarby defeated IFK Kalmar 4-0. Hammarby was out and shot fast, with Nevin lined up Emma Jansson for the premiere just two minutes into the meeting.
Another goal for Jansson and one goal for Adelina Engman made Hammarby go to the break with 3-0. Eva Ulrika Nyström had the fourth in the second half to secure the 4-0 win, where Hammarby remained in seventh place.
Cooney-Cross was named on the bench but is still waiting for her debut.
The last match in Sweden saw Remy Siemsens AIK goes down 2-1 to second place Linköpings FC. Siemsen got the assist on AIK’s only goal, set up Linda Hallin, however goals to Olga Ahtinen and Amalie Vangsgaard saw the hosts win.
