the counting in progress, the center-right ahead. Referendum flop
After the five o’clock flop referendum on justice that did not reach the quorum of 50% + 1 stopping at just over 20%, attention is focused on the municipal ones. 9 million Italians voted for 978 Municipalities and 22 provincial capitals. The turnout was 54.7%. The counting began at 2 pm and is still ongoing. The projections largely confirm the anticipated exit polls: the center-right wins in the first round a Palermo with Roberto Lagallaa Genoa with Marco Bucci and probably a L’Aquila with Pierluigi Biondi. Surprise a Veronadove Damiano Tommasi, a former Roma player who is a candidate with the center-left, has the advantage over the center-right. He will go to the ballot with the outgoing mayor of Fratelli d’Italia, Federico Sborina. Everything will be played out on the electorate of the former mayor Flavio Tosi, in the race for the center-right, which could partly flow into Tommasi. Even in Parma the center-left has the advantage. In these last two cities, Fratelli d’Italia overcomes the League as a list vote, which also suffers the blow of the referendum failure.
Hence the lash of the secretary of the Carroccio Salvini to political opponents: “The left did everything to ensure that the quorum was not even approachable”. While four out of 27 Municipalities of the Province of Rimini were called to vote: the only one of the 15 thousand inhabitants – with the possibility of a ballot – was Riccione, where the ballot proceeds slowly. Single round elections for the other municipalities. A Sant’Agata Feltria wins Goffredo Polidorionly candidate, while a Morciano di Romagna dominates Giorgio Ciotti, reconfirmed for the second term. The new mayor of Coriano and instead Gianluca Ugolini. During yesterday’s voting chaos in Palermo, where about 40 polling presidents did not show up and were denounced by the Municipality.
