Banks successfully steered through the pandemic – with some exceptions – Liechtenstein
SCHAAN – Despite the corona pandemic, the banks in Liechtenstein achieved a good result overall in 2021. According to the Statistics Office, for example, it recorded a net inflow of new money and an increase in growth. In contrast, the result from normal business activities fell. The banks were therefore unable to maintain the level from before the pandemic.
The result from normal business activities in 2021 was CHF 238.4 million. Compared to the previous year, it fell by 21.7 percent. As can be seen from the 2021 banking statistics of the Office for Statistics (AS), they recorded a net inflow of new money of 13 billion francs and investments as of December 31st customer assets of 200.6 billion francs – 424.6 billion with the subsidiaries. At the end of 2021, the number of people accepted had increased by 49 to 2,485 full-time and part-time employees.
The balance sheet total of the twelve banking institutions operating in Liechtenstein was CHF 77.3 billion on the reporting date. According to AS, it has increased by 3.6 billion or 4.9 percent compared to the previous year.
