Who comes first in the constituencies of Caen?
The 1st round of the legislative elections took place this Sunday, June 12, 2022. Which candidates came out on top in the constituencies where Caen is located? Which ones will face each other during the 2nd tour scheduled for June 19th? The results of the two Calvados constituencies concerned can be found in this article.
This Sunday, June 12, the Caennais chose the candidates – as part of the 1st round of legislative elections 2022 – who will face each other in the second round, on June 19. Divided into 10 cantons, the city of Caen is integrated into the 1st and 2nd district of Calvados.
In the 1st, the outgoing deputy Fabrice Le Vigoureux (Renaissance, ex-LREM) puts his mandate at stake, in particular against a young candidate LFI-Nupes, Emma Fourreau, 23 years old. And it is the left-wing candidate who tops this first round with 35.81% of the vote. At 22, Emma Fourreau creates the surprise. ” This confirms the diagnosis we had made: that the French men and women are not satisfied with the second round that there was between Marine Le Pen and Emmanuel Macron“, indicates the candidate of the Nupes, “We carried out a campaign in the field, we had direct feedback from the citizens. We knew that there was an expectation for an ecological and social policy. We know very well that the third round, many people cling to it because we do not want to undergo Emmanuel Macron’s policy of breaking public services, retirement at 65. People are seizing this bulletin because they know that it is a last chance that we offer them and that it is absolutely necessary to seize it.”
For the outgoing deputy, Fabrice Le Vigoureux, who arrived in second position this Sunday, these results were expected. Even before the publication of the final results, the candidate of the presidential majority sees himself in second position. ” It’s not a deception“, he assures, while considering to have” the means to win this election in the second round. But nothing is played, it will be necessary to fight a lot, to convince, to mobilize a lot and to explain how on a realistic and balanced project for the country.”

The 2nd circumscriptionhad not given in to the “LREM wave” in 2017 since she had appointed MP Laurence Dumont (PS). It’s’ Arthur Delaporte (PS-Nupes) who presents himself this time in his place. The 30-year-old candidate, first federal secretary of the Ps du Calvados since last year, comes first in this first round. He is well ahead of the presidential majority candidate, Sylvie Dumont Prieux.
” Everything is presented in the best conditions. Now watch out! We didn’t win. There is a second round“, Arthur Delaporte cautiously declares, ” Everyone needs to stay engaged. You also have to reach the 50% mark. On a reminder, according to estimates, 7 to 8 points to grab. We have to get them and our determination next week will be total (…) If we look at the situation today, the left bloc is in the lead. What I also note is the strength of the far-right bloc in certain municipalities, which is also a sign of Emmanuel Macron’s failure to take an interest in a certain number of territories. And that must also be taken into account.“
This Sunday evening, Sylvie Dumont Prieux, who came second, recalls that in 2017 “the outgoing candidate (Laurence Dumont, PS) obtained 20.37% of the votes” in the first round. The Modem municipal councilor of Hérouville-Saint-Clair highlights her status as a local elected official. “I met residents, businesses, traders, associations. And I heard the return of their worries“, she assures.
