SV 09 is defeated in the last game at Fortuna Köln II
In the very last game of the season, SV 09’s long run of success finally came to an end, Bergisch Gladbach fell back from 2nd to 3rd place – and are still very satisfied with their results in the Mittelrhein-Liga.
“We’re a bit disappointed right now, but pride in a strong season outweighs it,” said 09 sporting director Christian Schlösser, summing up the ambivalent mood after the 1-0 (0-0) defeat at Fortuna Cologne II. Due to the first triple point loss after 17 previously unbeaten games, SV Bergisch Gladbach 09 slipped down to 3rd place in the Middle Rhine League and had to cede the runners-up championship to FC Hennef.
However, the 09ers played an outstanding season, collecting 75 points, recording 21 wins and only conceding three defeats.
In the southern part of the city, the series could probably have continued despite major personnel worries, but Kai Burger and Finn Stromberg missed good chances to take the lead. Shortly before the end, Fortuna struck and scored the winning goal through Theodoros Tsironas. “A draw would have been fairer,” said the sporting director at the end of the season.
The team is now taking a well-deserved break and will start preparing for the new season at the beginning of July.
SV 09: Abd Ali, McCormick, Weist, Spiegel, Fragapane, Rücker, Ahns, Isken (76th Alkan), Friesdorf, Stomberg, Burger (87th Kramer).
