Ukraine in 5 months reduced the production of metal products by more than half due to Russian aggression
Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises in January-May of this year reduced the production of rolled products, according to current data, by 52.7% in line with the same period last year – up to 3.789 million tons.
According to the information about the Ukrmetalurgprom association on Saturday, in the first months of the year steel smelting decreased by 52.8% to 4.244 million tons, pig iron – by 53.3% to 4.154 million tons.
Earlier, Ukrmetalurgprom 222 reports that in the first quarter of 2007 Ukraine reduced its total rolled products by 34.2% of production compared to the same period last year – up to 3.116 million tons, steel by 31.2% – up to 3.641 million tons, cast iron – by 34.1%, to 3.499 million tons.
It was also reported that Ukraine as of February 24, 22 (the beginning of the military aggression of the Russian Federation – IF) for less than two months of this year reduced production of rolled products by 9.2% in line with the same period last year – up to 2.859 million tons – up to 3.225 million tons, pig iron – by 10.7%, up to 3.132 million tons.
Then he explained that in connection with the military aggression of the Russian Federation, all metallurgical enterprises of the country were stopped and transferred to the regime of “hot conservation”.
In January 2022, Ukraine increased its total rolled production by 0.5% compared to January 2021 – up to 1671 million tons, steel by 0.9% – up to 1857 million tons, but reduced pig iron – by 1.8%, to 1.785 million tons.
In 2021, 21,165 million tons of pig iron were produced (103.6% by 2020), 21,366 million tons of steel (103.6%), and 19,079 million tons of rolled metal (103.5%).
