Georgantas: There will be no food crisis in Greece and Europe
The Minister of Rural Development and Food, George Georgantas, expressed his belief that there is no food now, nor will there be in the future, both in Greece and in Europe, speaking at the Regional Growth Conference held in Patras.
The Minister, deceiving in a relevant question, said that the decision of the Ministry of Finance to reduce the VAT on basic necessities (such as bread) is a matter for the Ministry of Finance, but expressed his optimism that with the measures taken by the government to reduce prices energy prices will also fall.
It also focused on national resources given to the primary sector, such as the program for young farmers and the money given to organic farming and animal husbandry.
For his part, the Political Adviser in the Socialist and Democratic Party of Parliament, Ioannis Latoudis, revealed that a new measure is coming that concerns up to 5% of the rural development fund for direct assistance to farmers up to 15,000 euros per person. This will be available from July 1st for those who have a problem due to the current situation.
Finally, Ludovica Principato said that in order to avoid the future of the food crisis, we must stop monocultures, eat less in western countries and diversify Georgia’s energy.
