pas de brocante en septembre, les professionnels veulent comprendre

The event brings together, for two days, around thirty professional exhibitors. Three times a year: the second Friday and Saturday of March, June and September. At least, that’s what the professionals would keep.
“For some reason that we cannot explain, the municipality validated the March and June sessions, but not that of September 2022”, regrets François Lescomères, the president of the National Union of booksellers and second-hand goods dealers (SNBB), which organizes the event since its inception.
The antiques lover struggles to understand the workings of the new municipal team. “In 2020, at the request of the former majority, we had migrated from Grands-Hommes to Tourny because of the Covid: it was a question of allowing restaurateurs to enlarge their terraces. Very quickly, the place became obvious: more space for exhibitors, more practical aisles for visitors, restaurant owners delighted by the crowds generated… The new municipality first told us that it was very good. Then the troubles started. »
The guest mayor
And François Lescomères embarked on a supplementation of hassles: “We first had to move the trucks away, then find another parking lot for them… Each time we solved a problem, we were found another one. The highlight having been the decision, taken by municipal decree in February, to authorize flea markets in March and June, but not that of September.
“We regret a lack of frankness on the part of the new municipality”
“We regret a lack of frankness on the part of the new municipality”, asserts François Lescomères. He claims to have approached Sandrine Jacotot, deputy mayor in charge of trade. And Nadia Saadi, assistant in charge of the city center. “Neither knows who made the decision, or why. The first tells us that the services should not have known that the event occurred three times a year – but it has existed for sixteen years! The second told us that it was a question of “modeling ourselves on the other demonstrations”. But demonstrations like ours, in the city center, there is no other! »
The junk dealer sighs as he watches the crowd of onlookers wander among the stalls. “I feel like the new team doesn’t know us, actually. That’s why I invited Mr. Hurmic and Mr.me Saadi to come and see us during these two days. »
Incomprehension
In fact, the City and the SNBB do not seem at all on the same wavelength. Here is the answer given to “Sud Ouest” by the municipality: “The town hall receives more than 2,000 requests for annual events in Bordeaux. The Flea Market moved to Tourny has always had two events, except for the 2017 edition. In order to reserve the possibility of hosting other events, we will not add an additional edition immediately. »
” So ! They must be confused with the Quinconces flea market, breathes François Lescomères. From 2006 to 2019, our event always took place three times a year, he says. I can produce the registration files if necessary. I have everything in my archives. It was only in March 2020 that the flea market did not take place. Because of Covid. And in June 2021: the town hall canceled it because it fell at the same time as that of Quinconces. In fact, the archives of “Sud Ouest” designate the flea market of the Grands-Hommes as “quarterle”.
The president of the SNBB also remarks that, contrary to what was refused to him by decree, “ the city’s website, he announces the flea market in September! This was still the case this Friday evening.
While waiting to unravel these mysteries and the misunderstandings between Rohan and Tourny, bargain hunters can come and have a look around the aisles again this Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
