Matilde Terenzi Italian champion Slide specialty
The Italian championship of Inline Freestyle disciplines took place from 2 to 10 June in Biassano in the province of Monza. The event that sees the best skaters at the Italian national level participate, qualifications for the regional championships, also saw two athletes from the Federation of San Marino: Tania d’Antonio in the Roller Cross discipline and Matilde Terenzi in the Speed Slalom, Slide, Roller Cross and Battle disciplines. The first day had an uncertain start in which Matilde, thanks to her emotion and tension, dropped to mid-table taking home a fourteenth place with her best time of 5,127. It was then continued in the following day with the Roller Cross discipline that has Tania eliminated by very strong opponents, while Matilde is a qualifier and a climb up the standings up to seen in sixth place. We then continued with the specialty of the Slides that lived intense moments in which Matilde did not lack determination and concentration, tackling all the Slides with precision and elegance: the result was not long in coming: Matilde made a ‘ titanic undertaking bringing home for the second consecutive year the gold medal and Italian champion jersey. The coach Marianna Mazzini declared that this victory was very successful as Matilde’s preparation was clearly superior to that of her opponents, so her was an undisputed gold. Next appointment in Roccaraso from 23 to 26 June with the Young Promises National Trophy which sees Elisa Benedettini and Michaela Romana Righi from the artistic sector on the track.
