It’s been around eleven months since kicker reported exclusively on 1. FC Köln’s interest in Steffen Tigges. Coach Steffen Baumgart (50) had picked the 23-year-old center forward in Dortmund’s second team to complement Anthony Modeste (34). Baumgart did not lose sight of his plan with the two peaks. And that’s why the striker is now at the top of the FC coach’s list.
Typical wall player with enormous disruptive qualities
The 1.93 meter tall Dortmund player is a typical wall player who can fix and place balls well, but above all he is – with all his footballing advantages – an absolute workhorse who repeatedly starts the opposing structure and has enormous disruptive qualities. He is in great demand in the cathedral city not only because he has mastered Baumgart’s favorite discipline.
The coach is convinced that Tigges has not yet exhausted his potential, he sees in him a professional who can develop, who also has the advantage of not going beyond the scope of the Klammen Kölner. The Dortmunders are likely to be interested in borrowing him – also cheaply.
He can get match practice at Bundesliga level in Cologne, but the player has not been on the ball since breaking his left ankle in March.
