PISA – The University of Pisa is confirmed first in Tuscany and seventh in Italy according to the international ranking of universities QS University Rankings. Compared to last year, the 2023 report confirms the positioning of the University of Pisa at a regional and national level and places it at 404th on a world scale.
With over 120 new universities joining the ranking, a total of 1422 universities have passed the selection of the Quacquarelli Symonds agency and of these only 41 are Italian. The ranking is based on indicators that measure the university base, the teacher-student ratio, scientific productivity and the level of internationalization.
The analysis carried out by the QS agency shows a University that is improving in all respects: compared to last year the number of teachers and the percentage of international teachers and students have increased, scientific production and the average number of citations received have increased. Furthermore, this year, QS has added two new indicators, employability and the International Research Network (IRN), which measures the amount of international collaborations that the University has established for research purposes, and which have scientific publications. . On this new indicator, the University of Pisa obtained an excellent score, performing better than over 90% of the universities analyzed and ranking 145th globally. This result reflects the commitment made in recent years towards participation in European projects and internationalization and is yet another demonstration of the quality of the research carried out in the Pisa University.
