The development of the Confluences district in Avignon is entering its operational phase
The agglomeration community of Grand Avignon presented Thursday, June 9 the first stages of development from the Avignon Confluences district located around the TGV station. The project has been announced since 2018 but took a long time to materialize, a delay that the local authority does not really explain. But already a building stands in the neighborhood: these are the new premises of the CAF, whose work is almost finished.
Cécile Helle the mayor of Avignon says: “lhe goal is to make this neighborhood a real place to live“. For this, the Grand Avignon divides this future district into “macro lots”. These are entire city blocks designated to developers and in each of them, there will have to be a balance between residential buildings, offices and public buildings.
This district of Avignon Confluence, the agglomeration also wants to build it with green spaces and “islands of freshness”. And then, the ultimate goal is to create a direct route between the city center and the TGV station. A 3km road made above all for soft mobility: bicycles and public transport. The entire district will not be developed before 2035.
