READER’S POST: Pandemic agreement will give the WHO totalitarian decision-making power over Norway
A planned pandemic agreement will give the World Health Organization (WHO) totalitarian control over Norway and other countries.
By: Geir Ugland Jacobsen, Party Leader, Democrats.
At the WHO meeting in Geneva on 22-28 May, 194 countries, representing 99 percent of the world’s population, voted in favor of a global agreement on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response. Minister of Health Ingvild Kjerkhol voted yes on behalf of Norway without any political process in advance.
The WHA, which is the decision-making body of the WHO, aims to have The Pandemic Treaty adopted under Article 19 of the WHO Constitution. This will give the WHA the power to impose legally binding agreements on WHO member countries.
The Democrats strongly warn against Norway joining such an agreement. Decisions concerning the population of Norway must be made in Norway, and not left to a supranational body such as the WHO.
In a democracy, important issues must be raised in open and enlightening dialogue, based on real and democratic preconditions. Should Norway accede to this agreement, there will therefore be serious shortcomings in the process that led to the agreement. Few have considered the agreement, even with its intrusive, and in the opinion of the Democrats, destructive force.
It is therefore urged that the parliamentary parties and the media in particular raise this issue.
The Democrats believe that the agreement allows the WHO to have excessive power to make decisions on behalf of Norway and other nations, from closures to vaccine enforcement and the introduction of vaccine passports.
Experience from the Covid-19 restrictions shows that the measures implemented led to a redistribution of financial resources, so that these are now in fewer hands. Such a pandemic agreement will lead to further shutdowns, and a further drastic shift in the world economy. Democrats warn that the WHO alone should have such an opportunity to cause this.
Another consequence of the treaty will be that the WHO will have the opportunity to censor health information, which further threatens freedom of expression. The Pandemic Treaty, under the heading “Restoring Trust in the International Health System”, is discussed on the Council of Europe’s website:
The «agreement… will lay the foundation for better communication and information to the citizens. Misinformation threatens public trust and risks undermining public health responses. In order to unleash citizens’ trust, concrete measures should be planned to improve the flow of reliable and accurate information, as well as to tackle misinformation globally. “
WHO also launches the term “infodemic” which is defined as follows:
“An infoemic is too much information, including false or misleading information in digital and physical environments during an outbreak.” It causes confusion and risk behaviors that can harm health. It also leads to distrust of the health authorities and undermines the public health response. An infoemic can amplify or prolong outbreaks when people are unsure of what to do to protect their health and the health of people around them… »
WHO also writes that they want to “Build resistance to misinformation”. We saw how this worked during Covid-19 with extensive censorship on social media and in national media. The statements above indicate that with the pandemic treaty, the WHO will function as a “ministry of truth” in the Orwellian spirit.
The Democrats also believe that the WHO’s impartiality, especially in relation to the pharmaceutical industry, should be considered. Among other things, the WHO has changed the definition of what is a pandemic and what is herd immunity in a direction that the pharmaceutical industry has largely benefited from.
At the WHO meeting in Geneva on 23 May 2022, Minister of Health Ingvild Kjerkhol said the following translated from the government’s website:
“I am encouraged that we have become the only ones to negotiate a pandemic agreement, strengthen the International Health Regulations and bring WHO funding towards sustainability. I am also encouraged by the WHO’s capacity to deal with humanitarian health crises. Norway will continue our support for these aspects of the WHO Atet.
We now have the opportunity to ensure the health protection of more efficient systems, stronger accountability and trust, and of justice, solidarity and human rights. We expect that the Director-General will also seize this moment and ensure responsibility for the WHO, which maintains the highest ethical standards. We must consolidate the WHO as our effective, responsible and capable leader in multilateralism, and an agency that has zero tolerance for misconduct. “
The Democrats fear that the government’s policy with this statement will turn Norway even more in the direction of becoming an undemocratic and totalitarian state. What is “wrong behavior” and what will be the consequences for those who have “wrong behavior”?
The Democrats strongly dissociate themselves from vaccine coercion, and point out that per. On 17 May 2022, 59,303 adverse reactions were reported, of which 6,256 adverse reactions are classified as serious.
The draft agreement was initially aimed at pandemics. In the latest draft, the treaty has been extended to cover all “health crises”.
Democrats urge all parties, the media and others to raise issues related to the pandemic treaty. The Democrats are naturally happy to participate in dialogue and debate on this topic.
