Fernando Santos says Portugal’s victory was “fair”, but “sins for scarcity”
Fernando Santos was delivered for having made the 100th game for the selection. When he told him that Portugal dominated, that the victory was “fair”, but that he could have won by a greater margin.
“It was a normal victory for Portugal. I think it was a fair victory. One of the things I had warned: from the start, seen from the outside, it may seem like an easy access, but it is not an easy access”, said the national coach, adding that there could have been “one more goal”
By beating the Czech Republic, Portugal consolidated its place in the leadership of group 2 of the League of Nations. The national coach underlines the importance of qualifying for the final four.
“This group is clearly open. It will be defined, with certainty, in the September window. Now it’s going to this game, trying to win again, staying in the winning scene because that’s what moralizes, that’s what gives confidence. That is what will catapult us to what we want, which is not only to qualify in the Nations League for the final four, but also to be very strong when we reach what is our goal”, he says.
The national coach also received the trophy for the 100 games at the end of the match, which, he admits, “fills him with pride”.
