Best in Finland, Fifth in the Nordic countries
The University of Helsinki was ranked 106th in the recently completed international competition university ranking, rises again to the top of Finnish universities. Aalto University ranked second, 10 places after the University of Helsinki. The ranking shows that the reputation of the University of Helsinki is strongest in the scientific community.
The University of Helsinki is fifth in the comparison of Nordic universities.
In addition to the opinions of researchers in the comparison made by Quacquarelli Symonds taking into account, inter alia, the university’s reputation among employers and its international aspects, references to university research and the teacher-student relationship.
Both the University of Helsinki and Aalto decreased slightly from the previous year, the former dropping by two places and the latter by four places. There are a total of 1,418 universities on the list. The small decrease, which also applies to other Finnish universities, is mainly due to the teacher-student ratio. By recruiting more researchers, one could climb closer to the top.

ETH Zurich is the best in Europe
The investment is dominated by universities from the United States and the United Kingdom. The only institution from another country in the top ten is ETH Zurich, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland. As in the previous 10 rankings, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is number one. This time, Cambridge was named the best university in Britain ahead of Oxford.
China’s top universities ranked 12th and 14th.
