Why Princess Madeleine of Sweden’s wedding day is a big family occasion

Princess Madeleine of Sweden celebrates her ninth wedding anniversary with Christopher O’Neill on June 8, which is an important date for their daughters Princess Leonor and Princess Adrienne.
It’s been nine years Princess Madeleine of Sweden married her husband Christopher O’Neill in the Royal Chapel of Stockholm Castle.

Their wedding day on June 8 is also an important date for the Swedish royal family since their two daughters Princess Leonor and Princess Adrienne were baptized on the same day – and in the same place!

In 2013, Madeleine and Christopher had a beautiful ceremony held in both English and Swedish, where the beautiful bride wore a Valentino dress with ivory Chantilly lace, a low back and a four meter long train, which she paired with an organza veil in silk .
The royal, 39, and businessman, 47, then hosted a private wedding reception at Drottningholm Castle, when Madeleine changed into a white prom dress that previously belonged to her mother, Queen Silvia.

IN an interview just before the wedding, Madeleine explained: “The wedding dinner will take place at Drottningholm Castle, which I am very happy about. Drottningholm Castle means a lot to me because I was born and raised there.”
Princess Madeleine and Chris have since welcomed three children: Princess Leonor, eight, Prince Nicolas, six, and Princess Adrienne, four. No doubt they will celebrate their anniversary with their children, as the date has a special meaning for the family.

On their first wedding day in 2014, the couple returned to their wedding reception, Drottningholm Castle, to baptize their eldest daughter, Princess Leonore.
Four years later, her younger sister followed in the footsteps of the date and place of her baptism, while Prince Nicolas was the only child of Madeleine and Chris to be baptized on another date, October 11, 2015.

All three, however, wore the traditional christening dress that was first worn by Prince Gustaf Adolf in 1906. After the ceremonies, their initials were embroidered according to information on the dress.
Princess Madeleine shared a photo of the service program back in 2018 and wrote: “Same same but different! Baptism for Adrienne June 8, 2018!”
